Phasianella australis, Turbinidae

Present only in Australia and Tasmania, the Phasianella australis is a very elegant gastropod with a 4-10 cm shell without reliefs with extremely variable design and colours and white calcareous operculum. It lives nourishing of algae, such as the Sea lettuce (Ulva lactuca) and marine plants of the genus Cymodocea, that grow just under the low tide zone, up to about 5 m of depth.
