Wild climbing rose, native to western China and northern India, where it grows between 400 and 2.700 metres of altitude.
It blossoms in spring with abundant hanging panicles. White, single flowers and prominent yellow stamens. Small ovular fruits in orange-red.
The young branches are reddish in colour, and this distinguishes it from the Rosa mulliganii , often pretended to be a Rosa longicuspis in the catalogues.
Very vigorous, it climbs to more than 8 m, and in the Roseraie Princesse Grace de Monaco it has framed the northern gate for 25 years.
