Calidris alba, Sanderling, Scolopacidae

The Sanderling (Calidris alba) is the typical wader of the beaches of North Palearctic and Nearctic, where is seen chasing the surf, looking for small invertebrates. Only a twenty centimetres long, is endowed of an agility and of a speed in running hardly comparable with other birds. During the migration it gathers in large flocks, doing air evolutions of an incredible mastery. Depending on the food availabilities of the environment, it dedicates the 40-90% of its time looking for food © Giusy Mazza
