Pachliopta aristolochiae, Papilionidae

Typical tropical butterfly; the Pachliopta aristolochiae lives in all the southern-eastern Asia where is very common. With its slow and elegant flight, it is often seen perched on the flowers while sucking their nectar. The body is bright red, colour repeated with a series of wide spots also on the lower face of the hind wings. Above is totally black with whitish veins and white spots in correspondence with the red ones of the underlying face © Giuseppe Mazza
