Cathartes burrovianus, Lesser yellow-headed vulture, Cathartidae

The Lesser yellow-headed vulture (Cathartes burrovianus) is, as the etymology of the scientific name of the genus where it is placed recites, a “purifier” as it mainly nourishes of the carrions of rotten organisms. It lives in Central and South America and is an excellent glider with very evolved aerial capacities. Among its characteristic it counts also that of having a very refined sense of smell, quite rare peculiarity among the birds © Giuseppe Mazza
